CLOSURE AND DEMOLITION OF SKATEPARK FACILITY

NOTICE FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL
CLOSURE AND DEMOLITION OF SKATEPARK

At the last Parish Council meeting on the 3rd July 2018, the Parish Council voted to demolish and remove those parts of the skatepark that were unsafe. It was anticipated that the quarter pipe at least could stay. However, subsequent inspection has shown that none of this equipment is safe for public use. With regret therefore, the whole of the skatepark has been demolished. A substantial amount of food waste, litter and drug debris that had accumulated at that site has also been cleared away.

Looking to the future, the Parish Council recognises that this facility has been valued by many members of our community, and it may well be that a more suitable concrete facility may replace the old wooden skatepark. The Parish Council have agreed to conduct a survey in the village to ascertain wishes and support for a new concrete skate park.

The cost of a concrete park will be in the region of £50K and we can apply to R.B.C. for 50% funding. The Parish Council would ask the local group who wished for the Skatepark to remain to come on board as a Working Group to help with fundraising should there be sufficient desire for this facility to be installed.

This will be a substantial project which will succeed only with the sustained support of the community.

Thank you
