Whilst we can enjoy our local village pubs (The Chequers and Wheatsheaf), the introduction
of additional early evening buses on our 12 and 833 bus services has provided opportunity
for us to explore further afield, leave the car at home and enjoy a more relaxed trip to a
pub or restaurant without the worries of driving and parking. Here are a few suggestions: –
Taking the 12C from Church St. (by the old School House) at 1713 or 1813
- A 10-minute trip to Cotgrave gives access to the leisure centre,
various takeaways and pubs. There is a return 12C bus from Candleby Lane at
1745, 1849 or 2049. - A 20-minute trip takes us to Morrisons, the Hickory Smoke House
and The Lock at Gamston. The 12C returns to Cropwell Bishop from
Ambleside/Morrisons at 1835 or 2035. - A 30-minute trip and we are at West Bridgford, Central Avenue,
with its many restaurants. The 12C returns from Central Avenue at 2028. - A 35-minute trip takes us to Trent Bridge with more pubs and
Restaurants. The 12C bus back to Cropwell from Victoria Embankment is at 2024. - After 45 minutes we arrive in Nottingham City. The last return
12C bus is at 2010 from the Victoria Centre or 2015 from Angel Row.
Taking the 12C from Church St in the other direction (by Stackyard Close) at 1755 or 1859
- A 3-minute ride takes us to the Plough at Cropwell Butler.
The 12C returns at 1915 and 2115. - An 8-minute ride takes us to the Turning Circle at Upper Saxondale
for a short walk to the Venezia restaurant. The 12C returns at 2110.
Taking the 833 to Bingham from Church St. at 1703 or 1803
- The 833 (along with the 747 to Radcliffe at 1725) provides an alternative service
to Cropwell Butler and Upper Saxondale (but we need to use the 12C at 2110 from
Upper Saxondale to return to Cropwell Bishop!) - A 22-minute ride on the 833 takes us to Bingham with its many pubs
and restaurants. There is no direct return bus, but we can take the Mainline at
2040 (or 90 at 2042) from Bingham to A52 Henson lane. Then walk up Henson Lane
(about 8mins) to catch the 12C from Upper Saxondale turning circle at 2110 back
to Cropwell Bishop.
I hope these suggestions are helpful – Enjoy your outings.
